1 hora por semana. If applicable, learners may be assigned a small homework task to complete before their next session. If this requires parental support, I will message the parents to let them know what is needed before the next session. Parents can also opt for no homework which is completely fine however, I would suggest that more than one session a week is booked in this case so that new learning can be consolidated.

Welcome! This class is designed especially for young learners eager to enhance their speaking and listening skills, or who need extra support in articulating their ideas.
In this class, I create a safe environment where children can express themselves confidently, explore language in exciting ways, and develop a deeper understanding of the world around them.

What will be taught?
I focus on several key components, which could include:
- Visual prompts for conversation stimulus. By presenting images, illustrations, and other visual materials, I encourage students to describe what they see in full sentences. This practice not only enhances their descriptive language skills but also helps build their confidence in expressing their thoughts clearly.
- Targeted reading aloud and book discussions. Featuring a carefully selected book that captures the learner’s interest, I encourage active participation, prompting students to discuss characters, plot, and themes. This approach not only enhances their enjoyment of literature but also fosters critical thinking skills.
- Explicit vocabulary development. A rich vocabulary is essential for effective communication. Throughout our classes, I may introduce new words in context and encourage students to use them in conversation. Interactive activities reinforce these vocabulary lessons, making language learning both fun and meaningful.
- Structured questioning for reading comprehension. I use structured questioning techniques that promote deeper comprehension. I teach students how to ask and answer questions about the texts, encouraging them to think critically about what they read and listen to.
- Purposeful dialogue and interaction. Engaging in meaningful conversations is at the heart of my approach. I facilitate discussions that are relevant to the learner’s interests and current curriculum topics. I encourage parents to share their learner’s current curriculum objectives, allowing me to tailor my content to support and enhance their school experience.

How are the classes structured?
Each class is structured to maximise engagement and learning outcomes specific to the individual leaner. This may include:
- Icebreaker conversation. I start each session with a casual icebreaker that allows learners to practise speaking about themselves and feel comfortable speaking with me. This sets a positive tone and builds the student-teacher relationship.
- Review of learning objectives. If applicable, it is important to highlight exactly what we are working on and how the learner will know they are successful in meeting these objectives. Understanding these achievable goals encourages learner metacognition, and meeting these goals brings a sense of success and motivation to continue learning.
- Interactive activities. A variety of digital supports - such as pictures, games, and books - help capture the learner’s attention and encourage them to participate actively in class.
- Homework. If applicable, I may give the learner something to work on before the next session which will then be discussed during the next review of learning objectives.

Research has shown that approaches focusing on speaking and listening, as well as a combination of both, yield positive impacts on learner achievement. My class aims to nurture these essential skills, equipping learners with the confidence to articulate their thoughts and engage in meaningful conversations.

I am excited to embark on this language-learning journey with your learner, where I hope they will not only grow as confident speakers but also develop a lifelong love for language and literature.

Necesidades de aprendizaje
Some students struggle with spoken language. I consider a learner's needs, whether this is articulation, formulating a response, or topic maintenance. I use speaking and listening activities with digital materials tailored to individuals.
Orientación para padres
Depending on the reader's comprehension level and their self-directed reading choices, some text topics the student may want to discuss could be considered complex in their context. Any self-directed reading material that students would like to discuss needs to adhere to the Outschool Class Content Policy.
Requisitos previos
This course is specifically for native speakers of English who struggle with holding a conversation or have lower self-confidence in expressing themselves. If your learner is EFL/ESL, I have conversation classes specifically for them.
