Glencoe Literature is a comprehensive series that prepares learners for academic success with diverse literary texts, featuring classic and contemporary works by renowned authors from various genres. The series is trusted by educators worldwide and aims to maximize students’ reading comprehension and critical thinking skills with its engaging, literature-based approach, capturing their interest through thought-provoking stories, poems, and plays with practical applications. Closely following the guidance in the Glencoe Literature series, your child will receive personalized tutoring and private lessons focused on enhancing their reading comprehension and analytical skills while addressing their individual needs. I specialize in the following specific topics and themes: 1. Analyzing Classic Literature: Exploring themes, characters, and literary devices in timeless stories. 2. Understanding Poetry and Drama: Interpreting poetic language and dramatic structures through guided analysis. 3. Examining Contemporary Fiction: Investigating modern narratives and their cultural relevance. 4. Exploring Historical Contexts: Connecting literary works to the historical events and figures that shaped them. Each class will continue from the page covered in the previous lesson, ensuring steady progress. As your child progresses, we will integrate targeted practice, emphasizing essential reading skills, academic vocabulary, and critical thinking, or focus on areas you wish to prioritize. My teaching style is dynamic and inquiry-driven, using a student-centered method that combines rich literary texts, thought-provoking discussions, and analytical exercises to build reading proficiency and curiosity. Lessons include Reading Skill Sections for essential academic and critical thinking skills, Literary Analysis Activities for deeper text understanding, and opportunities to apply language skills through real-world and historical contexts. This series, designed for learners seeking to improve their academic reading and critical thinking, is not for beginners. Lessons are designed for students aged 11-18 (Grades 6-12). It is recommended that students have a Lexile score of around 800 (CEFR A2-B2) to fully benefit from the material. Please reach out if you’d like to enroll your learner in this class. If the available times don’t work for you, please let me know. I am very flexible and can make adjustments to meet your needs!
