This class lasts approximately 8 weeks, and we will meet 2x per week. 

Throughout the 8 weeks, students will be immersed into the core standards for 2nd grade mathematics.

We will be using interactive slideshows, creative games, and hands on activities via printable handouts. I am a huge believer that students learn best when they are kept engaged and included in the lesson! Students will have the opportunity to practice their creativity throughout this math class, as there are so many different ways to approach math. I welcome students to use the strategies that work the best for them, while giving them concrete examples of various strategies and methods that they can explore.

As this is a 1 on 1 class, we will cover core curriculum from the 2nd grade core mathematics standards. We will explore each unit at the level / depth needed for each specific learner depending on their individual strengths / weaknesses. 

Unit 1: Operations and algebraic thinking 

(Addition and subtraction word problems with two digit and three digit numbers, estimating, even and odd numbers, multiplication and arrays)

Unit 2: Number and operations in base ten

(Understanding and identifying place value to the hundreds, skip counting, addition and subtraction using place value, properties of operations, addition and subtraction word problems with a focus on the base ten strategy, regrouping, input / output tables, and fact families)

Unit 3: Measurement and data

(Measurement with inches and centimeters, addition and subtraction using number lines, analog and digital clocks, money, identifying coins, addition and subtraction with money 
 and graphing)

 Unit 4: Geometry

(Quadrilaterals, pentagons, polygons, identifying and classifying shapes, vertices, edges, faces, fractions, and area)
