Welcome to my class description page, if your child struggles with reading, then this is the class for them. I offer students a chance to become more proficient readers, giving them confidence and strength in their skills while reading out loud with my guidance and help.
So many children barely get by with reading and it is so important that they practice daily to enhance their knowledge and give them a sense of independence. I will select books according to their age level and grade. Then I will have them read with me, I always share a page or two with my students according to how comfortable they feel. I have seen my students come to class not knowing many words or stumbling and after a few classes begin to feel confident enough to read more than asked to read. Each book has a comprehension packet with vocabulary and questions related to the story. My goal with the packets is to help with sentence structure and overall knowledge of what the students are reading. After each class I always let you the parent know how the class went, what your student worked on that day, and their progress.

Creative Writing or storytelling writing is a fun way for your child to practice writing skills using fun prompts or suggestions. Many students have no idea where to begin so I write alongside them to guide their writing. I will use my whiteboard and have students give me their thoughts and write them out so they can catch up and see their organized writing. I find this method helps with confidence. I will also use a brainstorming suggestion to help organize thoughts too. Students may show me their writing and then a family member can send me a snapshot of their child's work for further analysis.
