Tarea
1-2 horas por semana. Many students come to class looking for different skills to work on outside of normal school hours. I do offer these in tutoring sessions and the amount can vary depending on what what we decide on together.Calificación
Students will have the opportunity to receive a grade in the form of their choosing.I am happy to provide a grade in the form of a percentage, letter, or both. I can also offer a formal letter for submission to state programs. I ask students throughout the semester about their needs for grading and am happy to work with parents to create a plan that meets their needs! This class is designed for students who want additional tutoring in developing thesis statements, essay writing, 1-1 writing feedback, editing and revising, and more! Sessions can be requested by students at any time; please just contact me so that we can work on creating a private session just for your student to get the one-on-one help they want and need!
This class is perfect for students who have a paper they are working on and need support developing their statements or writing essays.
To provide some examples of things that students have worked with me on during tutoring, here is a list of many essay topics and styles that students are welcome to work on in class!
1. Novels
Skills covered under the novels include but are not limited to:
- Annotations
- Essay Writing (Analytical and Argumentative)
- Discussion
- Short Question Prompts
- Creative Writing
- Journaling
2. Short Stories
Skills covered under short stories include but are not limited to:
- Discussion
- Reading Comprehension Questions
- Summarizing
- Text Evidence (Location and Use)
- Literary Device (Symbolism, Character Analysis, Theme, Etc.)
- PCR Formatted Writing
- And More!
3. Essay Writing
Outside of Novels or Short Story Skills, We Also:
- Mechanics of Essay Writing
- AP-Level Writing
- College Preparation and Applications
- And More!
This is also a good introductory course for students to try out if they are interested in longer tutoring but are unsure if this class is a good fit for them. I do offer longer-term tutoring which can be found in the link below!

If possible, I ask that students send their writing to me before class in the form of an editable link or a Microsoft Word document. In the event that work is not sent before class starts, I will need to read the essay in class which may take away from some of our editing and revising time. If the student is able to send work early, I will also work with the parent to provide a list of expected/requested feedback. I may ask the following questions to get a sense of what the student needs:
- What are your students' needs?
- What type of feedback or revisions are you looking for?
