Building Vocabulary through Disney Movies!

Objectives:
 * I will be able to explain the definition of context clues and determine the role context clues play in building vocabulary.
 
 * I will be able to identify new vocabulary words, predict their meaning and apply into a sentence.

Standards:
 * L.N.1.2.3 Use context clues to determine or clarify the meaning of unfamiliar, multiple‐meaning, or ambiguous words.

Anticipatory Set:
*  Before viewing: What is a context clue? How do context clues help you to determine the meaning of new words? 
 * Play Audio Clip: Context Clues – Introduction to Reading Skills
 * After viewing: What does “rupture” mean and how did you know?

Interactive Activities/Instruction that will lead to students meeting objectives and mastering standards, with duration:

Pre- Activity: 
* Where in your everyday life do you encounter new words?

Activity: 
*We will listen to a montage of Walt Disney movies. In this montage there will be 12
words that *could* be new to you. 

Post-Activity: 
*We will discuss these potentially new words together and build our vocabulary!

Check for understanding:  
* We will view a video montage of Disney songs and check to see if our prediction of the word was correct!
 * Activity: Show Video Clip of Disney movie and music montage.
