This newer classic book by Jeff Kinney, is a wonderful story for kids of all ages. We will do reading on our own before each class and practice our oral reading skills in class. Children are not forced to read out loud during class, but are encouraged, and asked each time if they would like to. During the first half of the class, we will discuss key plot points, our favorite parts, and other memorable moments. We will also do an activity based on the lesson of the week such as a writing activity, brainstorming, using our imaginations, or we may even watch a short clip and discuss adaptation. **You do not need to read before the first class. There is no assignment before the first class. Please read the following for the subsequent classes: Before meeting 2: read Page 1 to the end of Page 42 Before meeting 3: read Page 42 to the end of Page 83 Before meeting 4: read Page 84 to the end of Page 128 Before meeting 5: read Page 128 to the end of Page 160 Before meeting 6: read Page 160 to THE END! About the book: "It’s summer vacation, the weather’s great, and all the kids are having fun outside. So where’s Greg Heffley? Inside his house, playing video games with the shades drawn. Greg, a self-confessed “indoor person,” is living out his ultimate summer fantasy: no responsibilities and no rules. But Greg’s mom has a different vision for an ideal summer . . . one packed with outdoor activities and “family togetherness.” Whose vision will win out? Or will a new addition to the Heffley family change everything?"
