This class explores the value of acceptance through interactive story-telling and class discussion. Students also learn tips and strategies for remaining cool and creative when life throws challenges their way with a special focus on mindfulness attitudes and skills. I tell the story about what happens when monkeys 'invade' a new golf course. The golfers don't know what to do and Wise Zebra offers some mysterious advice: "Befriend the monkeys", he says. Students are invited to discuss the meaning of Wise Zebra's words and come up with ways for the golfers can stop fighting the monkeys and work WITH them instead. Students are also invited to share experiences of “monkeys” in their own lives and brainstorm creative solutions for working with them too. This class is good for students who want to learn more about mindfulness, enjoys stories, and love to participate in thought-provoking discussions!
