Class Experience

ZUMBINI is an engaging, learning experience with movement and fun for the whole family to join in! It's EASY, FUN, and acting silly is highly recommended. Join Miss Canda, Licensed Zumbini Instructor as we SHAKE, SING, and SMILE!

Zumbini combines original music and song, dance, live storytelling, and imaginative play for preschoolers to enjoy as they learn and improve on cognitive, motor skill, social and emotional development.

All levels of musical ability are welcome! Some children may watch, some may participate, and some may wander the room! It’s all age appropriate and encouraged for ages 3-5 yrs.

One of the most organic ways children learn is through play, and each class focuses on multiple topics in early learning such as numbers, colors, animals, food, family, transportation, musical instruments and so much more! Children also learn through repetition; students meeting regularly once a week and actively participating in class will benefit from routine as well as strengthen various skills through music, movement and interactive play. Repetition aids in helping children improve speed, increase confidence, and strengthens the connections in the brain that help children grasp concepts. For instance, after routine attendance your child will begin to anticipate the order of class activities, take direction, musically understand rhythm, hear beats and creative ideas.

Each class will consist of the following lesson plan:

Opening Dance (choreagraphed, our icebreaker!)
Welcome Song
A Live Interactive Song with discussion
A Choreographed Dance
A Live Interactive Song with discussion
A Dance with Scarves
Featured Instrument of the Week - Drums, Sticks, or Shakers
Freestyle Dance Jam or Freeze Dance
Free Instrument Jam Session
Lullaby Song
Goodbye Song

All age appropriate for learners ages 3-5 years old.

Parental Guidance
Parents, it is strongly advised that if you are not actively participating with your child during Zumbini to please keep watch over your child during this class. Please be sure you have an open "floor" space available for movement and circle time as learners might be dancing, jumping, or jogging about during our movement segments. I do not advise children to dance or jump on a bed during class, as that could result to injury. After you register, all new students must sign my liability waiver before we start class which I will attach.
Supply List
Learners will need:

Wear comfy loose clothing you can dance about in
A light scarf, blanket, or a t-shirt,
A homemade instrument to hit or shake (e.g. pot, pan, drum, wooden sticks, shakers, etc.)

Your weekly $13 subscription will include access to a Zumbini Digital Soundtrack (a specific soundtrack based on the volume we are focusing on) available on the Zumbini App so your child follows along with our session and learn the music outside of class! Music will be distributed by the 3rd class of our session. Student should be prepared to commit to AT LEAST 3 CONSECUTIVE Zumbini classes in order to receive the digital music soundtrack. (Note: Soundtrack does not include music used in our Free Dance and Instrument Jam Segments of classtime.)

I also encourage purchasing the Zumbini Instrument Bundle which includes:

1 Bongo Set
1 Pair of Rhythm Sticks
1 Pair of Egg Shakers

Each class we will feature a different instrument - drums, sticks, or shakers so this bundle is a good investment for routine class.

Hi there! I offer young minds effective ways to nurture their passion for music by guiding them with patience, creativity, and compassion.

Originally from MD, I received my Bachelor's degree in Music at George Washington University and my Master's Degree in Vocal Performance at Catholic University of America in Washington DC. Since 2002 I've performed and recorded professionally and have enjoyed teaching voice and piano to children and adults for over 20 years.
It's truly rewarding for me to motivate children to think outside the box as they learn concepts of music, theory, and ear training. I teach piano for ages 3 and up, from beginning to intermediate level (up to Level 3 proficiency) as well as offer basic keyboarding (playing with chords and playing by ear). I offer private voice for all levels and genres for ages 10 and up, and group vocal ensembles or musical theatre studies for students as young as 8 years old.
