If you have not already heard, Zumbini® for Schools is an early childhood education program for children ages 2 to 5 years. Created by Zumba® and BabyFirst®, our program uses music and movement to promote cognitive, social, emotional, and motor skill development all masked behind a fun class. Each class is unique yet incorporates the benefits of familiarity and repetition. These classes are designed for you to come to one, some, or all :) Children want and need repetition to gain mastery of skills so the more classes your child attends, the more your child will reap the benefits. We dance, we sing, we chat, we include our chat in song, we dance, we sing, we dance, we explore music through our prop, we end with a farewell chat and calming song before we sing goodbye. We celebrate all levels of participation including kinetic, auditory and visual. The program is designed for ages 2-5, and aimed at children prior to starting formal schooling (e.g. a 5 year old that is in pre-school prior to starting formal schooling mid-year). Our class is structured as follows: 1. Introduction 2. Structured Movement Dance 3. The Welcome Song 4. Unmute for a lead discussion 5. Sit & Sing with focus on topics from discussion 6. Dance - Structured 7. Sing & Introduce Prop 8. Sing or Dance with Prop 9. Unmute for a farewell discussion 10. Goodbye Song Note: In the unlikely event we breeze though the class and there is extra time you will be treated to a post-class Zumbini Time story or two. If you have any tech issues connecting on the day or during class please connect and I will sort something out for you. 15 Aug - 21 Aug: Kalino Finds the Music with a Scarf/ Piece of Material/ Imagination 22 Aug - 28 Aug: Kalino Finds the Music with a Drum/ Pot/ Container/ Floor 29 Aug - 4 Sept: Kalino Finds the Music with a Scarf/ Piece of Material/ Imagination 5 Sept - 11 Sept: Kalino Finds the Music with a Rhythm Sticks/ Wooden Spoons/ Pencils/ Fingers 12 Sept - 18 Sept: Kalino Finds the Music with a Scarf/ Piece of Material/ Imagination 19 Sept - 25 Sept: Kalino Finds the Music with a Shakers/ Rattles/ Empty Drink Containers with a Noise Maker Insider/ Imagination 26 Sept - 2 Oct: Kalino Finds the Music with a Scarf/ Piece of Material/ Imagination **Note my Timezone moves to Daylight Savings. Billed as an adorable distance-friendly activity, virtual Zumbini® connects with younger children through joyous activity.

Parental Guidance
Parent or caregiver is required to supervise the child during this activity, especially when using props. As I will mute all the participants during the dancing and singing, I would love if you could be on-hand to unmute your child on request. It is important to note that we will dance around and sit on the floor to sing during our Zumbini classes, so it is suggested to utilise a space such as the living room rather than be seated at the kitchen table, etc. While Zumbini is not a fitness program, it does involve quite a bit of movement and you may want to dress your child in comfortable clothing. Please have a large enough space available for your child to dance around and that it is clear of any potential hazards that someone may bump into, etc. Please note, as this class is focused on dance and song with only two short interactive sections, I make every effort to always run a booked class even with one learner. I have also had classrooms with 3 learners booked in and only 1 learner was present at the live class. If your learner happens to the be only live attendee and would prefer me to present class with minimal interaction (like I do when I record my Flex video classes) please let me know via a private message up to 15 minutes before class, or in the Zoom chat during class and I can adapt the class plan.
Finally, please feel free to join in with your child off camera! While not at all essential, your child will love watching you join in too.
Supply List
As we get ready for class, it is important that we have no expectations of our children! They are at home, NOT in an enclosed studio space. They may watch, they may listen, or they might follow along and that’s ok! These are all valid forms of learning for this type of class. Most importantly, keep in mind that the Zumbini program is about the process, not the outcome, so let’s have fun together! Each class uses 1 prop, either a Scarf, Drum, Rhythm Sticks or Shakers (alternatives suggested below): 15 Aug - 21 Aug: Kalino Finds the Music with a Scarf/ Piece of Material/ Imagination 22 Aug - 28 Aug: Kalino Finds the Music with a Drum/ Pot/ Container/ Floor 29 Aug - 4 Sept: Kalino Finds the Music with a Scarf/ Piece of Material/ Imagination 5 Sept - 11 Sept: Kalino Finds the Music with a Rhythm Sticks/ Wooden Spoons/ Pencils/ Fingers 12 Sept - 18 Sept: Kalino Finds the Music with a Scarf/ Piece of Material/ Imagination 19 Sept - 25 Sept: Kalino Finds the Music with a Shakers/ Rattles/ Empty Drink Containers with a Noise Maker Insider/ Imagination 26 Sept - 2 Oct: Kalino Finds the Music with a Scarf/ Piece of Material/ Imagination **Note my Timezone moves to Daylight Savings. I teach the Zumbini for Schools program which is an Early Childhood Education program for children ages 2 to 5 years old. We use Zumbini music that is original and produced by Zumba's grammy-nominated music team, with the occasional a hint of story and song available for use in the public domain or traditional categories. If you would like access to the music outside class, this can be arranged from Zumbini for a small fee. We will begin by using music from the Kalino Finds the Music album followed by the Hili and the Dance album.
