Class Experience
The Moon. You've seen it in the night sky. NASA landed on it for the first time 50 years ago. But what would it be like to live there? In this class, students will learn about the terrain of the moon, discuss what supplies and other essentials would be needed to live on the moon, design structures for lunar living, and present their final projects to their classmates in the form of sketches, a physical model, a computer-generated drawing, or a written description. I am a certified chemistry teacher (grades 7-12) with 6.5 years of experience in the classroom. I have also taught freshman college chemistry. From these experiences, I have worked with a lot of different types of learners at various stages of interest and motivation- from high school students simply taking the class as a requirement to college freshmen chemistry majors passionate about the course with never ending questions. I can tailor my teaching style to fit the learner, and I do what I can to make it approachable by anyone.
Students will need something to create their colonies- paper and drawing supplies, something to build a 3D model (LEGOs, Kinex, etc.), or pen and paper to create a written description.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
