Use code SCOTTFORFEES5 to save $5 and offset enrollment fees! Students will learn a condensed intensive zoology curriculum in this two week camp. I've picked my favorite ten lessons to share with the class. Lessons are full of discussion, visual examples, and include short games and challenges. This class is far more than just a lecture. Students receive hands-on learning opportunities including learning how to monitor animal populations and model structural adaptations. Our last day of class students meet my prehensile-tailed skink. Supplemental activities and information may be posted to the class page following the lesson to help students further investigate a topic. I provide many tactile learning activities to reinforce vocabulary and understanding (matching, sorting, cut & paste, and other activities). Activities and additional information added to the classroom outside of class hours are completely optional but will help students build a well-rounded full-curriculum experience with this class. I encourage students to keep a journal or notebook in which they will maintain a list of new vocabulary words they have learned in class. I look forward to working with your family! If you feel your child would do better in a small group setting with a workbook to follow along with, my small group zoology class covers a different animal each week and utilizes a Thinking Tree funschooling journal which provides fabulous structure for children with alternative learning needs. Teacher expertise and credentials
Virginia Teaching Certificate in Science
Before I became a teacher I worked with wildlife, in a microbiology lab, and also in animal welfare. I have always been called to work with children and have volunteered at girl scout camps, zoo camps, and children's hospitals. As a teacher on Outschool, I am committed to bringing visual and tangible content to the classroom. I believe teaching is more than just a lecture. My students learn best by seeing examples of concepts, and by breaking new content down into manageable pieces. I am always available for questions and support!
