In this zoology class we will discuss animal habitats (homes) and the various adaptations that animals possess that help them to survive. Where an animal lives decides how they are specifically adapted to their habitat or environment. Students will meet a real animal that lives in the desert, the rainforest and in urban areas of the world. We will also discuss the continents and habitats of different continents. Students will learn how animal adaptations help them to survive in the places they live and how long it takes for an animal to adapt to new issues in their environment. This class is a lecture style class with input from the students and questions encouraged. This class is perfect for the animal lover, nature expert or anyone with a curiosity about wildlife.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello,
My name is Cindi Cavallini and I have been a zookeeper for more than 35 years and have been doing wildlife presentations for almost 25 years. I have my own wildlife outreach organization called All About Animals in Dallas, TX and my own animals that come with me to in person presentations. I am a graduate of the Exotic Animal Training and Wildlife Management (EATM) Program at Moorpark College. I am also a professional member of ZAA-Zoological Association of America and AAZK-American Association of Zoo Keepers. I was a zoo manager for 16 years while doing wildlife education and then decided to start my own organization. I have a variety of animals that help to get children excited and wanting to learn more about science and nature and the world around them. My classes vary in topics from the rain forest to reptiles, animal body coverings, Animals of Africa, and even silly classes like The Real Scoop on Animal Poop and Animal Superheroes! I believe that meeting and understanding more about animals helps children to learn to appreciate and respect them as well as teaching them empathy towards other living creatures and the natural world. Most of my business has become virtual so instead of traveling with me, like in the past, my animals mostly just come to my educational studio now where I teach online classes. When I am not teaching for Outschool I can be found teaching in person with my animals around the Dallas/Fort Worth area with my company All About Animals and caring for and playing with the more than 60 animals that join me in my classes.
Fun fact about me......my favorite animal is the pangolin, yet I have never seen one in real life.
