Zookeeper Training 101: A Day in the Life of a Zookeeper.

Come join in on this zookeeper training class where your student will see what it means to be a zookeeper. At the end of the class, each student will receive a Zookeeper certificate and name badge.

Class Experience

Students will be able to learn what a zookeeper does and how they care for the animals. 
Students will be able to identify potentially harmful items in an animals enclosure.
Students will be able to talk about how we can help the zoo's animal cousins in the wild.  
Students will be able to select the correct food for the right animals.
Students will be able to sort food 
Students will be able to share the reasons the animals are trained.
Students will be able to identify the common animals that live at the zoo
Students will be able to use the handout to record their day as a zookeeper
Students will be able to talk about their stuffed animal that they brought to class and how they can take care of it as a Zookeeper.

Students will obtain a zookeeper certification and ID badge after class.

I am a licensed teacher certified to teach grades k-8 who loves the zoo and animals.
Bring a stuffed animal to class that you might see at the zoo
Print off the zookeeper "record" handout(optional) 
Print off an animal head band-color- and wear to class. (optional)
 2 files available upon enrollment

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be assessed informally
Students will participate in the interactive slides to practice the zookeeper duties
Students will answer questions about animals and the jobs zookeepers perform
General observation of student participation
40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
