During this 4 day camp, students will get an up close look at working in a zoo, as well as learn a lot of cool animal facts about the creatures that live there.

During this 4 day camp, students we will take an in depth look at how zookeepers care for the animals. We will cover a total of 12 animals during the camp including jaguars, lemurs, lions, elephants, koalas, river otters, giraffes, cheetahs, penguins, polar bears, elephants and rhinos. The classes will cover 3 animals each day. We will learn interesting facts about each animal and then take a closer look at how the zookeeper feeds that anImal and maintains a safe, clean and engaging environment for the animal. Each day we will visit several zoos “live” to see the creatures and develop a better understanding of their place in the zoo. We will also discuss which species are endangered and how we can help. I will use slides, short video clips, photos and live videos to present the material. Each class will conclude with a fun interactive art activity where we will draw one of the animals discussed. Students will also receive an activity worksheet each day with the lesson.

I love teaching students of all ages! I have over 20 years experience teaching students ranging in age from 4 to college level students. I strive to create a fun and engaging classroom where each student is eager to learn and participate. My mission is to make learning enjoyable and memorable.
My areas of expertise are communications and public speaking, but I love teaching science and animal related courses and helping students work on their reading skills. I currently travel around the country doing test prep classes for high school students.
I also have a passion for teaching younger students how to read. I have my ESL certification, a BS in Communications from the University of Tennessee and a MA in Business Management from Tusculum University.
