US Grade Kindergarten - 2
Calling all young readers and science lovers! In this interactive class, students will meet to discuss assigned chapters from the Zoey and Sassafras book series—a fun and imaginative blend of science, magic, and adventure. Each session will focus on two chapters, with guided reading comprehension questions and plenty of time for learners to share their thoughts, opinions, and favorite moments. While we won’t read the chapters aloud in class, students should read them ahead of time so they’re ready to jump into the discussion. After our book chat, we’ll bring the story to life with a hands-on activity inspired by what we’ve read! These activities may include simple science experiments, creative art projects, or language arts extensions that connect directly to the characters and themes of the book. Students will need their own copy of the Zoey and Sassafras books, which are widely available at bookstores, online (like Amazon), or local libraries. Each class is a stand-alone discussion, focusing only on the assigned chapters—so learners can join at any time and catch up if they’d like! This class is a great way for students to grow their love of reading, build comprehension skills, and explore their creativity in a supportive and social environment. Teacher expertise and credentials
Master's Degree in Education from University of Maryland, College Park
Hello to Everyone! My name is Miss Meghan and I can’t wait to meet your child. I enjoy teaching a variety of classes for preschool and early elementary ages.
I hold a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Special Education. At the beginning of my career, I worked extensively with autistic children in home settings designing programs to help students access the world around them in an empowering way. After my oldest daughter was born, I became a licensed childcare provider creating a home away from home for many children to grow and learn. When my youngest daughter was born, I decided it was time to explore other options and that is how I landed at Outschool. I am so grateful for this opportunity and love meeting new learners from all over the world.
I have a passion for instilling a love of learning in young children through exposure, messy play, and fun! I strongly believe that letting children delve into learning at their own level and allowing for different types of learning styles sets children up for a life long learning journey.
In addition to teaching on Outschool, I currently homeschool my youngest daughter and am very involved in her homeschool co-op and activities. My oldest daughter, who was homeschooled until high school, is trying public school for the first year! I feel so grateful to have a career that I love that also affords me the opportunity to spend time with my own children as well. In my free time, I enjoy art, brainstorming new lesson ideas, cross stitch, and reading!
I offer science, art, language arts, social studies, math, and social classes for preschool and early elementary groups, as well as social groups for neurodivergent learners! Please feel free to message me with any questions!
