This class is designed to help build a love of reading for learners. By learning to make text to self connections, children are more likely to become engaged with the content of the story. 
What will be taught: 
     Making Text To Self Connections
     Comprehension
     Vocabulary
What topics will be covered:
     Fiction vs. Nonfiction
     What is a reptile?
     What is a carnivore, herbivore, and omnivore?
Class Structure:
     During our first meeting, we will get to know each other a little and do a book talk. The learners are not required to read prior to the first class meeting.
During each meeting, the learners will discuss what they have read and then complete activities based upon the reading. 
     For all meetings the classes will follow the following structure:
          Greetings
          Discussion
          Activities

I will teach using discussion, games, activities, positive reinforcement and praise. When offering corrections, I like to help guide the child in a way that is gentle in nature in order to help them feel safe in making mistakes and correcting them. 

My teaching style is relaxed and positive.
