ZMy BEST Self: Mistakes Help Me Grow - 5 - 7 Year Olds

DESCRIPTION: This class is part of a series of classes that focus on topics which help learners develop strong social-emotional learning (SEL) and growth mindset skills through inspiring stories, self-reflection, and engaging guided activities. Students explore their own ideas and thoughts while learning how to believe in themselves. They also learn why being unique is important, different ways to share kindness with others, and build self-confidence. By developing a growth mindset students learn to believe that they can always improve by putting forth effort and applying certain strategies. 

LEARNING GOALS: "Mistakes Help Me Grow" utilizes the conflict and difficulties that Hiccup and Toothless face to discuss their own challenges and success'. In this class we discover that everyone makes mistakes!   We will discuss how not to be afraid of failing.  Failing helps us grow.  Failing means we are trying our best!  If I keep trying I will succeed!   Costumes and action figures encouraged.  

CLASS: Students will learn through the use of Nearpod, worksheets, and guided discussions and activities. This class utilizes an interactive presentation platform called "Nearpod". Nearpod turns a powerpoint presentation into interactive slides so that students are able to draw, answer questions, and much more directly on the presentation through out the lesson. This helps keep students engaged, allows them to collaborate as a class, and practice what they have learned. Students may need parental help in the beginning to join the Nearpod lesson. 

NON-VERBAL Learners are most welcome.
