This class is a social group for young students. Using clay or dough as a young child increases their grip to hold a pencil properly and manipulate small objects. We will work on fine motor skills by playing with dough of your child's choosing. We will also work on speaking skills by practicing speaking slowly, clearly, with good eye contact and with good sentence structure and purpose to our speech. Students will be given 15-20 minutes to build a creation of their choice, and then each student will be given the opportunity to speak about what they've created. This will also give each student the chance to practice being good listeners and give constructive feedback for their classmates. This is a class where students will leave their microphones on and students will be encouraged to talk about their likes and dislikes and lots of other fun and interesting topics!

Students will learn speaking skills by practicing speaking slowly, clearly, with good eye contact and with good sentence structure and purpose to our speech. They will increase their fine motor skills by building with dough.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Play dough contains gluten and cannot be used by students who are Celiac or have a gluten intolerance. An alternative dough may be used.
Supply List
Students will need to have and use their own dough of their choosing to participate in class.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Hello! My name is Stacey and I am a homeschooling mom of 4. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Masters of Arts in Mental Health Counseling. I have seven years of online teaching experience teaching children online. I also have 15 years of experience counseling children and their families to cope with big feelings and helping them increase their communication skills. I also currently run 2 companies!
I became a homeschooling Mom to 3 of my 4 children in 2018 when my son was diagnosed with dyslexia and dysgraphia. The school he attended was not able to teach him to read so I learned how to teach reading to him using Orton Gillingham techniques and curriculum. I have since taught many children to read by using movement, activities, and lots of fun! Learning to teach children to read has become one of my passions in life!
I believe that children learn best when they feel cared for and are having fun! When older children understand how the curriculum will help them in their everyday lives they are more likely to retain the information and become a partner in their own learning. This makes learning so much more interesting for the student. It's our job as parents and teachers to help your child understand how the topics they learn will help them today and in their future!
My other passion in life includes teaching students about personal finance. This is something I've been interested in since I was a teenager, and I hope to be able to teach as many students as possible about how to build wealth through budgeting and being mindful of their income and expenses. I am excited to share this knowledge with your students!
When I'm not in the classroom, I can usually be found reading a great book or lounging in my pool or on the beach. I live in sunny FL, about 10 minutes from the beach and we enjoy going often. So if you see me in class with a sunburned face, you know why!
