Each week in class, we'll practice phonics, learn our sight words and work on mastering them through chants, games, and activities. To gain mastery, we will practice finding and reading our words alongside teacher during engaging read-aloud stories. Over this nine-week course, we will work together on mastering all 52 Kindergarten Dolch Sight Words: all, am, are, at, ate, be, black, brown, but, came, did, do, eat, four, get, good, have, he, into, like, must, new, no, now, on, our, out, please, pretty, ran, ride, saw, say, she, so, soon, that, there, they, this, too, under, want, was, well, went, what, white, who, will, with, yes
Not required, however, students are encouraged to read together with parents every night and work on recognizing their sight words as they follow along.
Please bring 6 index cards to class. We will practice writing our words on them and use them in class when we see a word we know! Also required: Pencil and/or crayons Printed Materials (Materials will be posted in the classroom prior to class)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
