The cells in the human body are not placed at random but rather they are organized in levels. In this class students will learn how the cells are organized in the human body. I will provide a guide with information and images about the levels of organization. Students should be able to follow the explanation with the guide and they are encouraged to take notes. Students will complete a class activity to apply what they have learned in this class. This is an introductory class therefore previous knowledge is not necessary. Week 1: Cells and Tissues The human body is composed of eukaryotic cells. In this class students will go over human cell shapes and sizes and how these characteristics are related to the functions they perform. Then students will study how cells are organized in tissues. Week 2: Organs and Systems In this class we will cover the characteristics of the main organs in the human body and how the groups of organs are organized in systems. To finalize students will study how the systems work together to maintain the human body alive.
