In this course, students will review and discuss the basic shapes (circle, square, rectangle, triangle, etc.), review how to draw them properly, learn to find and identify the concept of shapes in basic images, and learn how to draw and reproduce these animals and objects using the shapes. Therefore, this class will not just be about learning how to draw simple pictures, but students will also learn basic geometry and art composition concepts as they do so! Students will learn and review the basic geometric shapes while being introduced to the simplest forms of art composition. Students will gain a new perspective on their world, using shapes as the theoretical building blocks for interpreting objects and images around them that they can then draw and/or reproduce using various creative mediums at home.
Optional: Practice drawing things that you see around your home and/or neighborhood (houses, cars, animals, plants, toys, etc.) using simple geometric shapes.
Suggested Materials: pencils, erasers, markers, crayons, dry erase board, paper (preferably white, but coloured is also allowable).
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
