Class Experience

In this flexible and interactive creative movement class, learners will be taught how to step out of the box a little and dance to "words"! Class begins with a fun warm up to make sure our bodies are ready to dance and then using, short story, The Big Book of Happy by Natalie Marshall, learners will be taught how imagination can turn those words into movement and then into a dance. Along with set choreography, there will be opportunities for learners to incorporate their own idea of movement...

Students will learn individuality as they notice that their way and understanding of the words in the story results in movements that differs from their neighbor, but can still present the same thing.  Creativity will allow them to use their imagination to best explore what words they are trying to present and make it intentional and clear. Their repetitive movements will create muscle memorization which will be the beginning of building their movement bank.
