Beat the heat this summer by making some cool and delicious science experiments! Each class, we will work through the scientific method by completing a science experiment! Each experiment or science lesson will begin with a hypothesis and end with the student's results and conclusion. There will be worksheets to print and bring to class, and each class we will complete a science experiment! Finally, we will end each class by tasting our experiments! Class 1: Chemistry of a Cupcake- The student will get to invent his/ her own cupcake recipe and will talk about the importance of each ingredient. The students ovens should be preheated to 350 degrees, and all cupcakes should take about 15-20 minutes to bake. Class 2: Ice Cream in a bag- Let's take a break from the summer heat by talking about the science of making ice cream! Class 3: Taste Test- Can you trick your tongue? Did you know that 3/4 of what we taste is related to what we smell? Let's try and trick our senses in this class! Class 4: dancing worms! We will talk about acids and bases by making gummy worms dance in the water! Class 5: Rainbow lemonade! We will learn about the density of sugar, lemon and water making a layered drink! We can use food coloring to show the different layers! Class 6: Layers of soil- what's a better way to learn about the layers of the Earth than eating them in a yummy recipe! While learning about the Earth's soil layers, we will also make a delicious version of the classic dirt recipe! Class 7: Pop-rock science! We we learn all about the chemical reaction of pop-rocks candy and soda! Class 8: Edible marshmallow slime! We will learn about the science behind slime, and what better way than being able to eat it afterward!
