Class Experience
In this coaching class, I will evaluate the students cards to help them design the best playing deck base on those cards. I'll discuss basic, intermediate, or advanced rules based on the student's experience with the game. Lastly, if there is enough time, we will practice some of those strategies against each other during a mock duel. I will use my training deck to explain the basic mechanics of each type of card (monster, spell, trap), I'll explain the playing field, I'll explain how to summon correctly, and I'll explain basic gameplay. Intermediate and advance card strategies will NOT be covered in this class. I'll mainly use my computer camera and my over head document camera to discuss and demonstrate the cards. Questions from students about the game is strongly encouraged and time will given to discovering those answers within the framework of the class. If your student already has experience playing the game then this class may be too elementary for them; however, if they need a refresher on the rules, then this class will work.
Learning Goals
1) Learn the basics of game play and card mechanics of the Yugioh card game.
2) Learn about friendly respectful competition.
3) Develop an emerging interest and excitement for learning more about the game.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Education from New Mexico State University
Greetings. My name is David Libby and I am a homeschooling father of five that has taught in the public schools for the last 16 years. So to be honest, my wife has done the majority of the schooling at home; I'm just the principal.
I'm unlike many of my professional colleagues because I didn't go straight from high school to college to teaching. I took a different path and enlisted in the United States Air Force.
My last job in the Air Force was as a Historian for the F-117 Stealth Fighter. If you want to learn about airplanes and jet fighters, I'm your guy.
Needless to say, I bring a wealth of experience to any classroom. I've coauthored a curriculum book about finances for kids and young adults. I've worked as a banker and trained briefly as a stock broker. I've flown faster than the speed of sound and I can still hit a baseball. I love flying kites and building model rockets.
My approach to learning is simple, I've created classroom learning systems that keep me and the students organized so learning can be efficient and fun. I believe in building background knowledge and front loading information first before moving to the more complicated material (essentially I scaffold). And lastly, I love to learn and I do my best to teach students and adults that life time learning is fun.
