I am a certified art educator with an English minor and have been working with students since 2011. I may specialize in art education but I also used to run my own wedding blog and currently am the author of my own YouTube channel at Carly's Colorful Corner.
Homework Offered
Homework will be assigned outside of class. Class time will be used primarily for learning the skill and outside of class the student will be expected to practice the skill independently. Next time we meet, I will ask them to demonstrate what they learned by presenting an example of what we focused on for that week.
Assessments Offered
I ask that each student demonstrates the new skill they have been learning for their YouTube channel before we begin class. I do this to help ensure that the student understands the concepts being taught.

***LEGAL DISCLAIMER****
Per regulations, any child under the age of 13 must use a YouTube/Gmail account that is controlled and supervised by their lawfully legal guardians and not under a family plan or via a third party. It is advised to encourage the student to create a channel under the parent's account to prevent leakage of any personal information from occurring and to ensure child-friendly activity is taking place. If this is not an option then the parent can create a joint account instead in order to ensure safe behavior is being practiced.

THE FOLLOWING MATERIALS THAT I MAY RECCOMEND IN THIS CLASS FOR YOUR STUDENT'S SUCCESS
Please know that not all of the programs below are absolutely necessary for this class but they are the tools that I suggest to help fix a variety of problems.

CANVA
An account will be needed if your student wants to use Canva. Canva offers a free program that will allow students a limited amount of access and the tools needed to create YouTube thumbnails. Instructions on how to use this tool will be shown via screen share but students are encouraged to have their own account so they can follow along.

SHOTCUT
This program does not collect party information and is specifically a free download used on the student's computer to allow for video editing. Instructions on how to use this tool will be shown via screen share but students are encouraged to have their own program on their own device so they can follow along.

AUDACITY
This is a free Microsoft app that can me found on the Microsoft store program. If students need to do sound clips or sound edits it is encouraged that they download this onto their own computer so they can have access to it during class. Instructions on how to use this app will be provided via screen share. An account for audacity is not necessarily needed for the app itself but you may need a Microsoft account to get access to this application.

YOUTUBE
This is a google program that will allow students to launch their videos. It is best that the parent set this program up for those under the age of 13 (please take a peek at the legal disclaimer above). If necessary, I will be using screen share to show different features of this program but it is mandatory that the student has their own account set up in order for them to be successful in this class.
