1 hrs 20 mins in-class hours
Assignments
1 hour per week. Learners will walk away with a skill development checklist where they can self-assess and plan how to further practice their skills for development.
Progress Report
A progress report that helps learners track successes and gaps so they make take activities back to the independent practice time.

Class Experience

Beginner Level
We will apply the skills of deliberate practice on the guitar by playing games that uniquely and creatively allow learners to interact and practice their skills. A review of chords, reading chord charts, performing short melodies, ear training, strumming patterns, error detection and identification.

Games can help learners self identify practice goals and areas to concentrate as well as identify success points. Using success points learners can pick out music that most appropriately fits their skill level thus moving from novice to intermediate skill achievement.

This class is a supplemental class to the rest of the Guitar Shreds learning series.

MU:Pr4.2.1a With limited guidance, demonstrate knowledge of music concepts (such as beat and melodic contour) in music from a variety of selections.

Parental Guidance
Performing a musical instrument will add to the sound levels of your environment. Be prepared for an increase in the sound levels and prepare the learner for a focused lesson as well as other members in the environment who are engaged in other activities that may require a lower sound experience.
