Description
Class Experience
This is Financial Management 101. It is an introduction into personal finance, and critically important for developing and building increasingly advanced financial skills. From over 6 years as a Financial Advisor and High School teacher, I've learned that the most important aspect of money management is the way we view money. Once we identify that, we can set goals and learn skills to reach those goals. Therefore, we will cover: 1. What is money? 2. Identifying our values towards...
Learners will be able to: 1. Identify their values concerning money, and set short term goals using SMART goals. 2. Apply values and goals and create a draft budget to achieve their goals. 3. Adjust the budget based on changing situations.
I served as a Financial Advisor for 5 years, counseling over 300 clients and helping them achieve their financial goals. During that experience, I learned why certain people and families were financially successful, and why certain people and families struggled. I can confidently say that it is 90% values and mindset, and 10% skills and knowledge. I hold a Masters degree in Education (M. Ed.), with a focus in Curriculum and Instruction, from the University of Texas at Austin, and have served as a teacher in numerous capacities for over 4 years.
