Welcome to U.A., the academy where the brightest and best learn to use their creative skills to become the greatest Pro Hero the world has yet to see. Come and join us and find out if you have what it takes to become the next number one hero! It is here! The class that has been demanded ever since I began my “What It Takes” course. A “My Hero Academia” create your own character “fanfic” writing class. This course is chock-full of critical thinking activities, teamwork challenges, and a dash of Emotional Intelligence lessons just to tie it all together. This is not going to be your typical fanfic writing class. The goal will be to inject Learners OCs (Original Characters) into the story arcs of MHA to understand the choices that are being made and the consequences or outcomes they lead to. This means certain story moments will be fixed and unavoidable, but that doesn’t mean young Bakugo is destined to win the Sports Festival. At the same time, new plotlines have been created for OCs that aren’t following the typical Main Character parts of the series. Much like the series itself the tale, we will be creating together won’t be focused on winning but be about growing. This class will be focused on the first two big story arcs the U.A. invasion and the U.A. Sports Festival. The structure and format and how things will be taught would be is one part Choose Your Own Adventure Book wrapped in a Dungeons and Dragons campaign blended in with my own Storyteller structure that can be found in my “Foundations of Creative Writing” course. Learners will create characters and original quirks and D&D like stats will be given to each character. Learners will be in control of the choices their characters make, while I will control the outcomes of these choices. This class doesn't require dice or any extra equipment, but Learners are always welcome to come dressed in character. There will be some limitations to quicks that will be allowed, but as always, I reward creativity. If you can convince me through ingenuity and wit, I’m always happy to bend my rules. As for homework, Learners will be requested to keep a “journal” in the perspective of their Characters detailing their perspective of the class events. These entries as well as any art created for the class can be shared on the final day of class. The full breakdown of story moments and days is as followed: Day 1: Creating characters, quirks, and receiving their invitation to the entrance exams. – Lesson will be focused on Character and quirk flaws and how they help build character. Day 2: The Entrance Exams and acceptance letters – What is your character able to do during the exams and will it be enough? Day 3: Tag Team battles – All Might has a lesson to teach about teamwork will your team succeed? Day 4: The UA attack – Fighting to protect others vs fighting to survive does your character have the courage to rise to the occasion? Day 5: Sports Festival: the race – The sports festival has begun. Who will make it to the next round? Day 6: Sports Festival: the chariot games – For those who move forward another game awaits. For those who did not succeed a lesson on failure awaits you. Day 7: Sports festival: Tourney First Round & Quarter Finals – Time to see what can be learned when neither opponent is willing to lose. Day 8: Sports festival: Tourney Semi-Finals & Finals Day 9: Summer break – this will be a full creative day where Learners will create their own “side adventure during summer break. Day 10: Stories, art, and sharing. On this final day, we’ll go back and talk about what lessons were learned and how our Characters grew and evolved during their adventures.

Other Details
Parental Guidance
"My Hero Academia" though considered a "kids show" does deal with trauma, death, and violence among other societal and personal conflicts. Because the goal of the class is to understand these moments and their impact on the characters we will be discussing these topics in a light relatable manner that focuses less on the trauma with trauma, but rather on the lesson and hope that can be found within these conflicts.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
