In this ongoing class, students will work on advanced writing skills surrounding grammar, author's craft, in addition to sharing their own compositions with monthly overarching genre focus to allow them to build their writing repertoire.

Advanced Level
During this interactive writing class, students will start with a quick greeting and students will share their current writing project that they are working on and where they are at in the writing process for this class period. Then, we will quickly move into either a grammar or writing craft lesson of the day. We will practice this skill through a quick activity or game that will help us incorporate this lesson into our writing piece. Students should have a basic understanding of grammar...
Students will learn the writing process through a variety of genres by participating in each part of the writing process: brainstorming, planning, drafting, editing, revising, and publishing while improving their writing craft through different craft and grammar lessons.
I have taught Writer's Workshop and multiage writing classes for well over 10 years with students of various abilities in traditional classroom settings, small group classes through educational non-profits, and in my other similar Outschool Writing classes.
Homework Offered
Students will be expected to do some independent practice outside of class that will allow them to continually build their writing skills and have work to share with the class.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Students will be assessed through their submitted work, participation in class, and interaction with the material.Grades Offered
Students will need paper, pencil, eraser, and something colorful like colored pencils or pens. Depending on the writing assignment, students may need access to research materials based on their choice of topic. Teacher will provide optional printable resources.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
