As a certified K-8 public school teacher, I have taught students in high-poverty areas. Many of my students came to me unwilling to write and with no desire to learn how to write. By the end of our year together, every one of my students embraced a love for writing as a daily practice. I hold a Master’s in Education with a specialization in Reading Literacy.
Students should write daily in their Writer’s Notebook (approximately 15-30 minutes daily, or at least one full page). This is not required, but students will get the most from our weekly writing sessions if they are writing daily or at least 4-5 times a week.
-Writer’s Notebook (marble composition notebook or favorite notebook) -Pen, pencil
Teacher will informally assess students.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
