Young STEM Explorers Design Club- Ongoing Class
What's included
1 live meeting
45 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
Designed after the popular STEM Explorers Design Club, this club is for our younger engineers! The lessons will be slightly shorter, for shorter attention spans, but still incredible lessons and plenty of time to build! Want your child to have an excellent base in all things STEM? Each week is an incredible class and exciting opportunities to learn, think, engineer, and invent! Each class is different, covering subjects like physics, engineering, space, architecture, biology, chemistry, and much more. Each class will begin with a lesson that includes talking, discussions, photos, and/or videos. We will spend about half the class discussing the subject of the week and the last part with a hands on an experiment, design challenge, or inventing something new! Each child will use their own creativity, their imaginations, and their own engineering design process. Classes will be kept small, 7 children, so that the teacher can interact and help each student with their experiments or designs. These classes are designed for children of all abilities and are inclusive for those with disabilities, including those with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and learning disabilities. Children will not be expected to read or write in class. We will spend a big part of class designing, experimenting, and/or creating our items. Each child will create their own things through their imaginations and their own creative design. Please make sure to have supplies for class so the children can create/experiment! This can all be created with things from around the house! Please check the supply list. These classes are part lesson and part design, create, and/or experiment. Children learn best when they can use their hands and imagination! Join us in this fun class! Please note, a design will not be sent to your student, they will completely design their items using the things we will talk about in class. **Students should be able to construct and build on their own. They are expected to use scissors, glue, tape, and other supplies to build and construct. This class is for children who enjoy building, creating, and using their imagination. ** Week of Jan. 9th- We will learn about and create our own skyscrapers. Week of Jan. 16th- We will explore the International Space Station, then designing our own version. Week of Jan. 23rd- We will design our own zipline to carry a passenger safely down! Week of Jan 30th- We are creating a napping pod! We will learn about sound and light! Week of Feb 6th- Creating crash helmets for safety! Egg drop but with a twist! Week of Feb 13th- We will learn about earthquakes! Be ready, this one will be fun! Week of Feb 20th- We will become food engineers! Bring your favorite snack! Week of Feb 27th- NO CLASS this week! Week of March 6th- We are taking a trip to space and learn about CEVs, Crew Exploration Vehicles. Week of March 13th- SPRING BREAK for Ms. Rebeka- NO CLASS Week of March 20th- Playground adventures! Week of March 27th- We will engineer a water park! Week of April 3rd- *** Friday STEM classes may have a few less classes than the others because of holidays or teacher needing to be off***

Teacher expertise and credentials

Master's Degree in Education from University of Houston at Clear Lake
Bachelor's Degree in Education from University of Houston at Clear Lake
I believe in igniting the fire for the love of learning and meeting children where they are at. I also believe the best way to learn is through play, hands on experiments, and having fun. My favorite things to teach are STEM, Math, facilitating safe gaming classes, and reading classes.
I attended University of Houston at Clear Lake and received my Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education- Young Children with Disabilities and my Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education- Children with Disabilities. I was the owner and founder of The Mind Body Lab, where I taught STEM, Art, and Yoga classes. I am also a private tutor.
I was the Assistant Director of Early Childhood camps for University of Houston at Clear Lake, and for 6 years I designed, developed, and implemented inclusive camps for young children. I have also taught a homeschool science classes at a local nature center, where I prepared lesson plans, wrote lessons that included STEM, and instructed an inclusive class.
I believe every child learns in a different way and the way I teach will reflect that. I plan my classes in a way where all learners needs are met, we do not all learn the same so I offer multiple ways to understand the subject.
I have homeschooled my children for the last 12 years. I am a first degree black belt and love everything martial arts!
My goal is to educate, include, enlighten, ignite, and help children explore this world.
