***THANK YOU FOR YOUR REQUESTS*** Unfortunately, we are unable to schedule any other summer sections than the ones listed. We do apologize for any inconvenience. This Summer Break Camp is geared towards the young actor who desires to bring their acting skills to the next level. Students will have a blast working on show and interacting with other learners. No previous acting experience is required. This camp is beginner orientated but not too slow for those who have had some past theatrical experience. Each camp day starts off with a super fun vocal/movement warm-up, using various exercises focusing to strengthen the actors speaking voice (Speech, diction and articulation). During the time we will also spend time warming up our bodies, releasing tension and stress from the body while preparing for the work ahead. After the warm-up, our actors will participate in a series of constantly rotating fun and educational acting exercises, which will focus on a specific acting technique. (Sense memory, focus, memorization, visualizing etc.) Halfway through each class learners will apply the instructed technique of the day to an assigned published play. During this time actors will be encouraged to make strong character choices as well as learn how to effectively make the words they are speaking effectively come to life. At the end of each class the instructor will assign homework and memorization for the next day. Students will receive ample feedback form the other students and the teacher. THE PLAY: At the end of the camp week, students will be a part of a virtual performance. The play is selected around the amount of learners that are enrolled in each section. The title of the play for each section will be announced on the first day of camp. Titles could include: 1. Cinderella, 2. Jack and The Beanstalk 3. Wizard of Oz 4. Rumpelstilskin 5. Little Red Riding Hood *All plays and scripts that are selected are kid friendly adaptations. Parental Guidance
***The script of play for the final presentation will be posted in the classroom a few days before the start of each section. Each learner will need their scripts for the duration of the camp.
***All actors are required to download their scripts to their desktops in order to be directly facing the camera. This is a very important step fro the over all success of the final show. This method works best on a desktop or lao top. iPads and phones are not recommended for this camp.
***Auditioning for specific roles is not part of CTP's methodology. All parts ill be assigned by the teacher and posted in the classroom after the first day of camp. Focus is spent on the techniques that are applied to the role and not the amount of lines or size of the part.
***Please note that performing virtually does have its limitations. As per Outschool’s policies, household members are welcome to watch their child perform live from afar and a comfortable distance from the actors device. Parents are unable to join the zoom meeting and view the show. Household members are able to view the video, which will be posted in the classroom the next day. For your child’s safety Outschool policies does not permit the video of the performance to be emailed or edited.
***A large open space is required. Comfortable clothing such as, athletic or dance attire works perfectly well. As for shoes, if your child is participating on a hard surface floor such as hardwood or tile, a pair of running shoes are recommended for proper support. Should your child be in carpeted room, non stick socks work. Cordless ear buds required or simply using the microphone form your child's computer work well. No prior stretching or warming up is required and water bottles are a must!
***Our Summer Camp curriculum is different than our SPRING BREAK & WINTER CAMPS. We work on a brand new play at each session which will be announced on the first day of camp.
External Resources
