Young Readers Book Club Class Duration: Ongoing! Class Description: Welcome to the Young Readers Book Club, an engaging and educational program designed for elementary school students who love to read and discuss books. During this weekly meeting, participants will explore diverse literary genres, develop critical thinking skills, and foster a love for reading. Class Structure: Each session will last 30 minutes, combining interactive discussions and creative activities. We'll start with icebreaker activities to create a friendly and inclusive atmosphere. We will then delve into our selected book, exploring reading strategies to enhance comprehension. We'll discuss plot elements, characters, and key themes. The students will engage in hands-on activities related to the chosen book, such as drawing characters, creating bookmarks, or even acting out scenes. This segment aims to enhance creativity and foster a deeper connection with the story. Each week, students will have the opportunity to express their thoughts and interpretations. Teaching Style: The class will be conducted in a participatory and inclusive style, combining elements of storytelling, group discussions, and interactive activities to keep young readers engaged and excited about literature. Interaction: Students will have ample opportunities to interact with the instructor and their peers through group discussions, sharing their creative projects, and participating in book-related activities. Required Experience/Knowledge: No prior experience or specific knowledge is required. The club is open to all elementary school students with a passion for reading and a desire to explore the world of books in a fun and collaborative environment. October 2: The Day the Crayons Quit (crayon art) October 9: Bartholomew and the Oobleck (We will be making slime) October 16: Amelia Bedelia's First Valentine (create Valentine cards) October 23: Fancy Nancy: Poet Extraordinaire! (create your own poem) October 30: The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown (create your own Halloween mask) November 6: If You Give A Mouse A Cookie (cookie decorating) Join us for a literary adventure where young minds can thrive, and imaginations can soar!

Students will need art supplies for each class. -paper -pencil/pen -markers/crayons/colored pencils/paint -scissors -tape -glue **If additional items are needed, students will receive correspondence before the class!

With seven years of teaching experience both in-person and online, I hold a bachelor's degree in elementary education and special education. Additionally, I have earned a master's degree in teacher leadership and am currently pursuing a doctorate in online teaching.
My extensive background in elementary and special education equips me with the knowledge and skills to create a supportive and inclusive environment for young learners. I am passionate about fostering a love for reading and literacy skills in children, and my ongoing doctoral studies in online teaching enable me to leverage the latest educational technology and pedagogical strategies to enhance the virtual learning experience.
