What's included

16 live meetings
16 in-class hours
Homework
1 hour per week. Usually I don't give students homework. However, it is very important for students to review what they have learned in each lesson. That would help students to progress faster and have greater understanding when they proceed with lessons. Since this class is level 2, without spending time on reviewing and practicing lessons, it would be difficult to keep up. Watching recordings is strongly suggested.
Assessment
Upon parent's request, the assessment can be provided at the end of the course. I can summarize what the student learned and accomplished in class. Not only the progress the student has made, but also the attitude/participation and attendance will be assessed.

Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
Intermediate Level
In this course, since students are already familiar with basic foundation of grammar and words, we will build up more knowledge in grammar and more practice on speaking and listening.
Students will take turns making sentences, asking questions and answering questions using a lot of exercise from the text and handouts. We will take time and proceed step by step to learn new materials. Please feel free to ask questions during the class time. Everyone can learn from each other. I hope students will have fun as they advance the language skills.
Learning Goals
Prerequisite for this class is Youkoso beginning Japanese 1 and 2. ( completed ) Or for students who have learned basic Japanese language elsewhere and display the equivalent level to Youkoso beginning Japanese 2.
Each week starts with a brief review of the previous lesson. Questions and discussions that are related to what we are learning are always welcome. Each students will participate by listening and speaking. This course will provide the basic conversational experiences, a lot of vocabularies, and hiragana ( reading and writing diacritic marks, contracted sounds, double consonants, long vowels ), katakana letters, simple grammar, and creating sentences using nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, time ( when), and prepositions. It is a fun and friendly class that should promote students' interest. The goal for this class is that learning a new language can open up a whole new world of literature, history, movies, music, games, anime, manga and other media to enjoy. Learning the language itself helps in understanding the history and the cultural differences. I would like to help students not only achieve the skills in the language, but also help their exploration of the country, Japan. This course is an extension of Youkoso beginning Japanese 2 and taking students to the next level.
