Homework
1 hour per week. Learners will be given exercises and photography assignments each week. These shouldn't take more than an hour per week.
Assessment
The learner will be expected to upload their images to whichever device will be used for our Zoom meetings. I will ask them to share their screen and share their images with me. If this isn't possible, the learner can post their images in the classroom or message them to me at least one day before the next class. Assessment is informal and will consist of verbal critique.

Class Experience

** Scheduling for this 1:1 class is flexible. Please contact me if you need a different day and time.**

Many students do well in a group setting, but many others prefer to be the sole learner. When a student is the only learner in a class, the teacher is able to spend more time explaining concepts. Also, learners can work at their own pace. I enjoy teaching one-on-one classes because they feel more laid back and less rushed.

In this one-on-one photography class, we'll work at the learner's pace to cover the following topics:

- Rules of composition
- Exposure triangle
- Manual settings on the DSLR or on manual camera apps for smartphones
- Various genres of photography
- Creative photography (abstract photography will be my main focus)
- Basic editing

We'll also have weekly exercises and assignments that will be shared during class.

I like to begin each lesson with a Powerpoint presentation (if applicable), and then the remainder of class is spent discussing the lesson and practicing shooting with our cameras.
I am always open to questions, and I try my best to answer them to the best of my knowledge. I believe that no question is a bad question, so I like to give my students plenty of opportunities to ask away. I am also open to letting the student request or suggest ideas for future classes. In this class, we'll work together to plan each lesson.

I believe that photography (especially abstract photography) is all about creativity and personal expression. Photographers are artists! No one should tell an artist that their creations are wrong or bad. I try to guide my students in the right direction by asking what they like about their images and what they could do to improve them. I never give harsh criticism! I will, however, critique and advise.

After learning about exposure and settings, this class will focus mainly on creative photography, but we will also spend some time on traditional photography.

If you have any questions regarding this one-on-one class, please feel free to message me. - Veronica

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Veronica Lorine, and I LOVE the arts! Before having a family of my own, I taught elementary music. After resigning, I volunteered my time teaching music at a local preschool. I also became more involved with crafting and photography. On occasion, I teach a music class at a local special needs academy. I also spend a LOT of time with photography.

I've expanded my portfolio and have been able to focus on more specialized photography. Macro, abstract, and night photography are my passions. I've received recognition for several of my photos, and I hope to continue doing so. I also have a "mystery macro" Facebook group that keeps my brain sharp.

If you'd like to see my current portfolio (which is constantly changing), visit my website at: https://vlorine.wixsite.com/vlorine

I also occasionally post images to my Instagram account (v.lorine.photography).

Besides the arts, I also enjoy traveling (far away from the SE Texas heat and humidity!), camping, hiking, and playing games with my family.

I believe in trying new things and experimenting with different ideas. I also believe that you should never compare yourself to anyone else. Be creative, be unique, be yourself, and HAVE FUN!

The only person you should try to be better than is who you were yesterday. – Unknown
