You Know What? Chicken _ _ _ _!

A classic response to You Know What? or Guess What? when one doesn't know the answer is 'Chicken Butt' If you don't mind the word "butt," and your kids love a sort of "knock-knock" joke, they will love a read aloud of this book.

Class Experience

Students will predict and retell the story. Students will answer questions before, during, and after the story. Students will recognize and produce rhyming words.
I used to teach early childhood learners for a very long time and they have always enjoyed this book to the point that they will keep reading the book repeatedly! It even spurred a few writers of other Chicken Butt books within the classroom.
There is no homework for this class. Learners are encouraged to read more rhyming stories that are humorous.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Learners will be assessed informally during class. Teacher will ask for rhyming words in response to the questions being asked.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
The words 'chicken butt' and 'monkey butt' are used in the book. It is part of the humor in answering the 'You know what?' question.
