The role of the Judicial Branch of the US Government, which includes the Supreme Court and lower Federal Courts, is to interpret the law and ensure the Constitution is being followed. The Bill of Rights contains many rights that citizens of the US enjoy and have been the source of much dispute in the courts. It is important that constitutional rights be known and defended and one of the best ways to do so is by looking at cases that have helped define and protect those rights. Each...
This class is taught in English.
Students will: - Learn about their rights under the Constitution - Think Critically about their rights - Understand how precedent guides judicial decisions - Learn some basic information about the court system - Express themselves based on their opinions and information they have learned.
The educators who will lead this class either have a Master's Degree in Government and/or have gone to several trainings from nationally recognized institutes such as Street Law, We the People, National Endowment for the Humanities, or other specific training about the Constitution.
Some cases may deal with crimes, discrimination, or violence. If that is the case, I will note that next to the case we are covering each week.so you can check to see if there is concerning information for your learner.
