Class Experience

In this one-time class, students will be introduced to the alphabet in American Sign Language, how to introduce themselves, and some everyday phrases.

They will learn that they are probably already using sign language like when they wave, hello and goodbye, or give a thumbs-up for a good job done.

Students will learn to ask and answer, "What is your name?" "How are you?" and say please, thank you, and sorry.

Correct handshape, palm orientation, facial expressions, movement, and location will be addressed, and we will have a blast while learning.

I will use pictures, songs, and games while teaching the ASL signs and phrases. Connections with familiar topics will be discussed to help the students remember the concepts taught.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have studied and facilitated communication between English and ASL users online and in Regional Day School programs for the deaf and hard of hearing for many years. I enjoy teaching language as well and have done so in homeschool settings, online, and in a community college.
