You Can Sign! - ASL for Beginners 1:1

Class
In these ongoing private lessons, students will learn beginner-level words, phrases, and conversational skills in ASL.

Class experience

Beginner Level
This class is taught in English.
I have studied and facilitated communication between English and ASL users online and in Regional Day School programs for the deaf and hard of hearing for many years. I enjoy teaching language as well and have done so in homeschool settings, online, and in a community college.
Homework Offered
Students are encouraged to review and practice the material learned 10-15 minutes a day between sessions. This can be done in different ways like turning off your voice for 10 minutes each morning, afternoon, or evening and only signing, reteaching signs learned to a sibling or parent, or watching a video containing the signs.
1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Progress will be measured by students telling me what I signed, or signing what I ask them to sign, or just be how long we can keep a conversation going without using our voices.
Grades Offered
Grades and more formal quizzing are available upon request. Grading on a scale of 1-100 can be calculated and provided as we progress through the material.
