In these ongoing private lessons, students will learn beginner-level words, phrases, and conversational skills in ASL.

Beginner Level
First Lesson - Private lessons will begin with introductions and an assessment of skill and learning goals. The main goal of these sessions is for the children to be able to express their feelings, wants, and needs through sign language and communicate with other users of the language. This class is taught in English.
I have studied and facilitated communication between English and ASL users online and in Regional Day School programs for the deaf and hard of hearing for many years. I enjoy teaching language as well and have done so in homeschool settings, online, and in a community college.
Homework Offered
Students are encouraged to review and practice the material learned 10-15 minutes a day between sessions. This can be done in different ways like turning off your voice for 10 minutes each morning, afternoon, or evening and only signing, reteaching signs learned to a sibling or parent, or watching a video containing the signs.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Progress will be measured by students telling me what I signed, or signing what I ask them to sign, or just be how long we can keep a conversation going without using our voices.Grades Offered
Grades and more formal quizzing are available upon request. Grading on a scale of 1-100 can be calculated and provided as we progress through the material.
