Class Experience

Each class in this course will offer students exposure and practice with new words. At the beginning of each class, we will review the sight words that will be used in the story. Sight words are words that do not usually follow spelling rules and you cannot sound out.
After students have had practice with the sight words, we will review some of the CVC, CVCe (or similar) words from the story. We will practice these words by sounding them out and writing them. Students will also practice using the picture and the first letter of the word to help them figure out a word.
Once we have had repetition practicing the words from the story, we will put the words together to read a book. Students will take turns reading pages aloud from the story.
