In this class, students will learn about self-acceptance, ways they might boost their self-esteem and explore what might affect it such as particular environments or with certain types of people. We will examine how we communicate and receive information (e.g. from friends, teachers, the internet, social media sites) and review how all these elements can influence them and affect their self-confidence. Students will learn the importance of self-acceptance and how this helps to be their best self.
I have over 20 years experience in practicing mindfulness meditation and over 10 years teaching it. I have led guided meditation in many contexts and with different ages that include affirmation and "self-acceptance", which along with relaxation and stress-reduction are fundamental elements of mindfulness meditation. I have also taught reflection skills to adults, children, university students and faculty.
Please bring a paper and pen or pencil to the class.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
