You are unique, important, and awesome! The world would be boring if we were all the same. We need everyone to complete our world. In this class, I will define and explain what it means to be talented in an area. We will discuss how everyone has their own unique talents and interests and how each person plays an important role in the world around them. Students will be able to share what makes them unique and how their talents are important to their family, classroom, and world. At the end...
Students will learn how their unique talents are important to their family and community. They should leave class with better self-awareness and self-esteem! They should also leave with a better respect for the people around them.
I have 6 years of experience teaching learning and emotional education. In this setting, motivating students and increasing self-esteem is very important.
Students are encouraged to share their quilt square with their family and friends. They may even ask you to make one too! Recommended Book: The Crayon Box that Talked by Shane DeRolf (to extend learning before or after class)
A piece of white paper cut into a 6" x 6" square (15 cm x 15 cm) A piece of construction paper cut into a 8" by 8" square (20 cm x 20 cm) Coloring tools (crayons, markers, colored pencils) Alternatively, you can print out a handout to replace the cut paper.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
