Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
In this short two day class, learners will be introduced to the idea of ancestors and descendants, genetics and genealogy, and a basic introduction to family research. We will explore our immediate family information and then create at least a three generational family tree. Class One will be a direct introductory lesson explaining vocabulary terms like maternal line, paternal line, ancestors, and descendants. We will examine current trends in basic familial research and how to start exploring the learner's own family. Students will be given a template for basic research to do on their own before Class Two. In Class Two, learners will analyze their family research to start creating their own family tree. Learners will be provided a template to fill out and showcase their ancestors.
