In this ongoing course, each student will be taught yoga postures and participate in mindfulness activities. This class is built to promote stress relief, improve flexibility and increase strength while increasing self-confidence and mind-body awareness. Each class will begin slow, increase in momentum and then slow back down to allow for a period of cooling off and deep relaxation. Your child will be given the opportunity to journal and interact with peers throughout the class but may choose to "pass" should they feel like skipping their turn. Week 1 (1/30): Topics: Hand Postures for Centering, Energy, Breath. Week 2 (2/6): Topics: Sun Salutation A and Flow. Week 3 (2/13): Topics: Sun Salutation B and being Present. Week 4 (2/20): Topic: Full Power Yoga Class
Learning Goals
Students will become familiar with a variety of yoga poses and how the breath can potentially be used to calm the body and mind. If students attend the class for several sessions they can gain strength, flexibility, body awareness, self-confidence, and learn tools to help decrease anxiety.

Tennessee Teaching Certificate in Mathematics
Martin Sierocinski is a certified yoga teacher through AAAI. Prior to teaching yoga to children, Martin worked as a mathematics teacher helping children master High School mathematics. He continually strives to learn all he can to help children reach their fullest potential.
