This course is a movement based course. We will be using yoga asanas (poses) and movements to build flexibility and strength. Throughout the class we will be breathing deeply and developing our mind-body connection. The class will begin with a flowing warm-up, followed by the work phase, deeper stretches and final relaxation. Each week will have a different yoga routine to work through. No previous yoga experience is required. Students should be prepared with a clear space, yoga mat and water bottle. Yoga props are not required but can be used (e.g. straps and blocks). Sample Lesson Plans with possible poses: Jan 4 - mountain, sunflower and moonflower flow, chair flow, lunge flow, c-stretch, pyramid, triangle, straddle, cat/cow, tree, down dog, spinal balance, child's pose, gate, final relaxation Jan 11 - neck stretches, roll shoulders, moonflowers, chair flow, down dog, child pose, cat/cow, warrior sequences, butterfly, tabletop, spinal twist, knees to chest, figure 4, final relaxation Jan 18 - knees to chest, bridge, cat/cow, child's pose, 1/2 series, mountain, lateral flexion, standing straddle, side plank, locust, cradle the baby, final relaxation Jan 25 - easy seated, arm circles, seated lateral flexion, seated twist, sunbird, down dog, sun salutations, twisting lunge, warrior flow, dolphin, staff, final relaxation
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Students will need an open workout space, footwear is not required, a water bottle if needed. Injuries can occur if stretches or exercises are not done correctly. Students are advised to listen closely to the teachers instructions.
Supply List
Yoga mat and water. Optional to have a yoga block or strap.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
