Each week, I will guide students through a series of Yoga poses and stretches to help improve flexibility and connection to their body. This helps bring a sense of calm and well-being...and it's fun, too! :) Each class begins with a short hello, and a chance to check in, and ends with an opportunity for sharing if students wish to share something about their experience. :) We do unique sequences each week that focus on mindfulness components, as well as returning to favorite poses from...
Students will practice openness in exploring movement. Students will do a series of yoga poses and stretches to help them connect with calm. Students will learn techniques to support them with reconnecting to this sense of calm in their daily lives. Students will stretch and move in ways that feel safe, and good to their bodies. Students will practice listening and paying attention to what feels best for their unique physiology.
I grew up practicing dance and loved yoga! As an adult, during a health challenge, I learned even more about the healing benefits of stretching and mindful movement through yoga. My hope is to help kids connect with their own bodies, and have a greater awareness of what feels best for them... all in a way that is both fun and kind!
No homework -- but students are encouraged to play with the yoga poses at home as much or as little as they like! :)
All that's needed is a safe, and quiet place to practice. A yoga mat is not necessary, but can be helpful, if you happen to have one. :)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students are assessed based on their participation and doing their best -- trusting their body and doing the poses and stretches that feel right for them.
35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
