This *ongoing* class guides students in Yoga poses and Mindfulness techniques suitable for beginner and intermediate learners. I will give verbal instruction and visual demonstrations of Yoga poses that includes alignment cues, physical benefits and symbolic meanings of poses (i.e. in tree pose I invite students to recall something they've done that's helped them feel rooted or I may offer ideas for reflecting on the qualities of a tree). We’ll explore breathing exercises with the intention...
Students will learn seated, standing and reclined Yoga poses, and relaxation techniques.
I am a certified Children's Yoga Instructor (2015) and I completed my 200hr Registered Yoga Teacher Training in June 2020. I have 22 years experience as a Yoga practitioner and 5 years experience as a Yoga Instructor!
Just breathe :)
Comfortable clothes, bare feet or slip-proof socks, and space to safely move around on the floor. Bring a Yoga mat if you have one, but if not just find an area where you have enough room on the floor to lie down with your arms and legs fully extended. I don't recommend using towels or blankets to replace a Yoga mat, as they can cause you to trip or slip.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Informal visual assessment, primarily so that I can determine how best to guide my instruction.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Please provide an open workout space free of any items that could potentially trip or cause the learner to slip. Slip-proof socks or bare feet, a water bottle, and comfortable clothing are suggested for this class (keep in mind we'll be doing some inverted poses which can cause clothing to shift, so tucking in or knotting loose-fitting shirts is recommended). While I will be providing instruction in poses that are suitable for beginner and intermediate students, adult supervision is still recommended.
