Class Experience

Beginner - Advanced Level
In this class I guide learners in explorations of Mindfulness practices and Yoga practices including mindful movement, poses, meditation & breathing techniques. The class experience also supports learners in developing skills related to focus, persistence, resilience and listening.

✨ CLASS FLOW (times are approximate): No two classes are exactly the same, but every class includes these elements alongside supportive social-emotional learning experiences:

*0-5 minutes: "class rules" + learner sharing and/or Q&A

*5-10 minutes seated Mindfulness/ Meditation exercises

*10-25 minutes sequence of poses. We’ll practice a variety of seated, standing and reclined poses

*25-30 minutes short guided meditation followed by an opportunity for learners to share questions and/or reflections on the class.

✨Things to know:✨

✨This class includes a variety of intentionally-selected instrumental background music tracks during poses; in my experience this is an engaging way of experiencing Vinyasa flow and appropriate for this age group.

✨My Yoga practice & training is informed by Vinyasa and Restorative Yoga practice, so participants can expect a blend of both.

✨My teaching style is rooted in respect. I aim to show respect to learners by offering structured, equitable time for learner sharing AND teacher-led instruction. I run this class in a way that's focused on offering instruction in Yoga and Mindfulness practices, so it may not be a good fit if you are looking for a class where your learner can participate in "freeform" / general sharing throughout the class time. Through all of this my goal is to show respect and gratitude to all who enroll in my classes. Like most Yoga classes, if a learner arrives late to class they will be welcomed with a warm greeting, however in this class after the initial 5-minutes of sharing I will not be offering opportunities for general sharing again until the end of the class. My goal is to show respect, not only to individual learners, but also the entire group as well as to Yoga and Mindfulness practices.

*LATE ARRIVAL POLICY*
Sometimes life gets in the way of joining class on time, but with a short 30-minute class like this every minute counts and I want everyone to have the best possible experience. *NEW learners* I will be unable to let new learners into class after the 5 minute mark because class rules have been explained and the class activities have begun. *ALL other learners* to make this the best possible class experience for all I will not be letting anyone in after the 10 minute mark. Families are welcome to message me with their reason for being late (through the waiting room Zoom chat feature is best) and if possible, I will accommodate late arrivals and/or transfers to another section (after the class ends).

*REFUND/ MISSED CLASS POLICY*
If you know your learner will miss a class please use the "pause" feature. For unplanned absences I'm happy to offer "make ups" by switching your learner's enrollment to a different section of the class, or by sharing the recording. Please reach out any time with questions or concerns about this policy.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Please provide an open workout space free of any items that could potentially trip or cause the learner to slip. Slip-proof socks or bare feet, a water bottle, and comfortable clothing are suggested for this class (keep in mind we'll be doing some inverted poses, so tucking in or knotting loose-fitting shirts is recommended). While I will be providing instruction in poses that are suitable for beginner students, adult supervision is still recommended.
Supply List
Comfortable clothes and space to safely move around. Socks are not recommended, unless they are "grippy" socks (the kind with sticky plastic or rubber on the soles). A Yoga mat is great, but not required. Using a towel or blanket in place of a Yoga mat is not recommended, as those can cause the student to slip or trip.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
