Class Experience

In this yoga class, your child will be guided through yoga poses introduced in a fun and exciting way. Class will begin with some breathing and meditation, move into some warm-up poses, some standing poses, and end with some heart-openers and seated poses. During class, we will use visuals and play yoga games. I will guide them through yoga poses helping them experience stories, characters, movements in nature, and animals all with the body and the mind. The children's likes and interests are incorporated into the class experience as well.

You can expect the following class themes in addition to yoga games, breathing exercise, and student-choice opportunities:
Week of January 31: Animals
Week of February 7: Frozen 1
Week of February 14: Frozen 2
Week of February 21: Raya and the Last Dragon
Week of February 28: Marvel/ Superheroes
Week of March 7: Moana
Week of March 14: Luca
Week of March 21: Encanto

Learning Goals

The main goal is for your child to have FUN experiencing yoga! I hope that throughout the experience, students will gain an appreciation for yoga, including meditation and yoga poses, and gain benefits of yoga including flexibility, strength, balance, and clarity of mind.

Yoga requires physical exertion, which may be strenuous and may cause physical injury. In consideration of being permitted to participate in the yoga classes, you agree to assume full responsibility for any risks, injuries or damages, known and unknown, which your child might incur as a result of participating in the program. By enrolling in and participating in this class "Yoga for Children" offered on Outschool, you understand and agree that Erika Call is waived from any liability of any injury suffered in connection with the class.
Supply List
I recommend that each student have a yoga mat particularly if participating on a hard floor. If you do not have a yoga mat, I recommend participating on a blanket or on a carpeted area. 

You can purchase a yoga mat on Amazon for around $15.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I have been practicing yoga for approximately seven years and have received the following certifications that may apply to the offering of this class: K-12 Special Education Teaching License for students with mild/moderate disabilities, 200-Hour YTT (Yoga Teacher Training), Children's Yoga Certification, and Yin Yoga Certification.
